Selecting the proper file format determines all following steps Take good consideration for selecting a suitable file format, as this determines to a large extend the possibilities for editing and adapting a map. Basically you should select a map which has been especially developed for the software you are most comfortable with.
Best results with vector formats If you are using professional vector graphics software (e.g. Adobe Illustrator) you have, in combination with our vector file formats like pdf or .ai, by far the greatest possibility and flexibility to create your own individual map. Vector maps can be rescaled without loss of quality (to wall filling size) and all elements of the map (as they are all vectors) can be individually selected and edited.
Alternatively, you may use any other vector graphics software which is able to open (or import) our file formats, including the Open-Source-vector graphics editor Inkscape. In the latest Version of this free software you can import and edit pdf and .ai formats (after undoing groupings)... Areas can be freely manipulated, continuous text however, may change to single letter or point-text during import.
However, if you are an MS-Office user and more confident using PowerPoint, you will possibly achieve better results if you select maps of our "Maps for PowerPoint" Series. You can use all the relevant functions of PowerPoint from Version 1997 and create punchy presentations. You can use all of the Original (and free) Microsoft Clip-Art and Powerpoint Templates...! If you are already using PowerPoint Version 2007 you have now even features such as working in layers, not to mention the new forms, shading, or 3D functions ...
